"Now here’s a new crazy looking monster movie that looks pretty damn sweet and totally ready to quench my thirst for those gooey creature features of the 80’s! There’s something about most modern monster movies that just doesn’t cut the cake for me, I’m rarely convinced these days that a CGI creation is much of a threat on screen, as they don’t really look like they’re actually there in the flesh. Via LoveHorror: "British horror ‘Book of Monsters’ will receive its World Premiere at the Frightfest 2018 film festival in London, UK on Saturday 25th August. In anticipation of the premiere screening, Dark Rift films have released the first teaser trailer and a new poster for the monster filled flick.

In Book of Monsters, six kick-ass women must fight off a horde of terrifying monsters at an 18th birthday party. Funded on Kickstarter in July last year, the film was the third highest funded horror film in the UK on the crowdfunding platform at the time and offered backers the unique opportunity to vote on which monsters would be included in the movie.

The stunning poster artwork was created by Tom Hodge aka ‘The Dude Designs’ who was also behind the poster art for Hobo with a Shotgun, Wolfcop and The Inkeepers to name a few."

HorrorChannel: Book of Monsters - Exclusive look at new poster

"Those of you lucky enough to make it through the snow to Horror Channel FrightFest Glasgow at the weekend were treated to a quick look at Book of Monsters.

From the team that brought us The Creature Below a couple of years back, this female lead, action-packed monster movie draws inspiration from the cult horror cinema of the 80s and 90s including such classics as Scream, Gremlins and Buffy The Vampire Slayer. With sick, gory practical creature effects and a dark comedic edge, the film promises to be a fun, bloody and sexy trip back to a time when making it through high school was truly life or death.

The film was successfully funded through Kickstarter in August 2017, raising �45,000 and became one of the 15 most funded horror movies on the crowdfunding platform and the third highest funded horror in the UK. Principal photography was completed in October 2017 and film is now in post-production, due to be completed in spring 2018.

HorrorTalk: OPEN UP THE BOOK OF MONSTERS AT FRIGHTFEST 2018

Two years ago, at Frightfest 2016, director Stewart Sparke presented the world premiere of his Lovecraftian monster move The Creature Below. This year will see Stewart return to the festival with his follow-up project Book of Monsters

"Book of Monsters is the culmination of a great deal of work my trusted collaborator Paul Butler and I began back in 2012 when we first discussed the idea of bringing the combined horrors of our twisted imaginations to the big screen." says Sparke, "The two of us were lucky enough to find ourselves working a day job together in the equipment store of our local film school and through our mutual love of creature features, we spent every lunch break concocting scripts featuring monstrous horrors and the unfortunate characters who would face them."
